Callous thief destroys Eltham tool shop in overnight ram-raid

Security cameras have captured the moment a thief ram-raided a tool shop at Eltham, in Melbourne's north east, using a car with no driver-side door.

The driver smashed into the Bridge Road shop front at about 4.30am before stealing thousands of dollars’ worth of tools.

It is almost exactly a year since the same shop was targeted in a similar ram-raid.

Shop owner Dean Stuart told 9NEWS it took about five months to rebuild after the last ram-raid, but he would "battle on".

"Very disappointing the work that has to go into it, it's hard enough making a dollar in retail as it is," he said.

Police are looking for a white Holden Commodore station wagon with the driver's-side door missing.
