Cadbury announces new vegemite-infused chocolate bar

It's the sweet and savoury snack that probably shouldn't exist.

But according to Cadbury Australia's official Twitter account, the company is planning to release a vegemite-infused chocolate bar on June 1.

In a short promotional video posted this afternoon, the company says: "Yes, the rumours were true. Yes, it's available June 1st (but you may see it sooner). Yes, it's surprisingly delicious".

Rumours about the product have been swirling online after an image was posted on a Reddit thread close to a month ago, but the company has stayed mum until now.

"Dairy Milk milk chocolate with smooth flowing caramel and VEGEMITE," the description on the bar reads.

The reaction on social media was swift, with Twitter users labelling it an "abomination", a "travesty" and "gross".

But not everyone was disgusted.

"Chocolate + Vegemite??? Why has it taken so long?! Can. Not. Wait," Twitter user @megytron wrote.
