Bushfires tear through Perth’s south

Western Australian firefighters are battling two bushfires in Perth’s south and police believe both blazes are suspicious.

One out of control fire is threatening homes in the suburb of Hammond Park while another smaller fire is burning near Kwinana.

Emergency services have told 9NEWS the flare ups are extremely suspicious and believe an arsonist could be responsible.

Motorists are being urged to check ahead before driving and can keep up to date by calling the Department of Fire and Emergency Services hotline on 13 333 7.

The department is also urging anyone who has witnesses any suspicious behavior to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
