Bushfire threatens homes south of Perth

A bushfire warning is in place for residents in Western Australia's south west.

Authorities are warning the blaze in Meerup, 300km south of Perth, has burnt through 2000 hectares.

The areas of Callcup and Crowea under a Watch and Act alert for Christmas Eve.

"There is a possible threat to lives and homes as a uncontrolled bushfire is burning in the area and people still need to stay alert," Emergency WA said.

The alert affects those bounded by the intersection of Plantation Road and Stockpile Road, along Stockpile Road to the east to Marri Road, north east on Marri Road and continuing on to Mulleta Road to Gloucester Road.

There is also a threat at direct line south east to the intersection of Rifle Range Road and Tattenham Road, and south east on Tattenham Road to intersection of Caesia Road, Emergency WA said.

Another boundary has been set along a direct line west to the intersection of Ryder and Lewis Road, western boundary of the Dombakup pine plantation and north east on Plantation Road.

Residents who plan to leave should go now if the way is clear, while those who plan to stay should make final preparations now, authorities warned.

Motorists are warned to avoid the area and drive with caution due to smoke.

Multiple other fires in the state are at Advice level.

Earlier this week, the fire in Meerup reached an emergency warning level as several more blazes burnt across the state.

In the Perth suburb of Parkerville, two homes were lost and two men were injured in a fire on Thursday.

Parkerville and Eaton residents were ordered to evacuate, while fires in Toodyay tore through vehicles and sheds.
