Bushfire threatens homes in Queensland

Paramedics are assessing 13 people after they became trapped between two fire fronts in a national park in Queensland.

Queensland Ambulance said members of its crew were evaluating the health of the individuals after they became stuck at Rainbow falls in Blackdown Tableland National Park in central Queensland.

RACQ LifeFlight Rescue said this afternoon it had been deployed to the Blackwater region in Queensland following reports of 12 people trapped by bushfire.

However, a spokesperson for RACQ LifeFlight told 9NEWS the helicopter had been “stood down” from the reported bushfire evacuation.

Meanwhile, residents of another Queensland town under threat from bushfire have been told it is too late to leave the area.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services has issued an emergency warning for Walsh River in the state’s north.

“It is now too late to leave the area. Driving now would be extremely dangerous,” the QFES said in the alert.

“The fire poses a threat to all lives directly in its path. Fire crews may not be able to protect your property. You should not expect a firefight at your door, act now. Power, water and mobile phone services may be lost.”
