Bushfire breaks out in north Perth

Fire crews are battling a bushfire that began in a national park in north Perth.

A bushfire advice message has been issued by Western Australia's Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES), for residents easy of Woodvale, Joondalup.

There is no threat to lives or homes but there is a lot of smoke, the DFES said at 2.44am local time.

The blaze is believed to have started in Yellagonga Regional Park, near Duffy Terrace.

Affected residents should monitor their surroundings, watch for further warnings and check their bushfire survival plans, Emergency WA advised.
