Five pedestrians have been rushed to hospital after they were allegedly hit by a car in Sydney's Inner West overnight.

Shocking footage shows the moment a P-plated Ford Ranger crashed into a parked Toyota Camry before mounting the footpath and hitting five pedestrians and another parked car on Burwood Road at Burwood about 12.25am.

The Camry, which was being used as a rideshare vehicle, was accepting a fare when the crash happened, police said.

The driver of the Ranger, a 19-year-old man on a provisional driver's license, was arrested and taken to Burwood Police Station. Nine

Paramedics treated the pedestrians, who were in a serious condition with head, limb and chest injuries.

The occupants of the Camry were also treated at the scene before they were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Ranger, a 19-year-old man on a provisional driver's license, was arrested and taken to Burwood Police Station.

9News understands the teenager told police he blacked out behind the wheel, causing him to lose control.
