Aussie bureaucrat earns $300k a year to do nothing

A top bureaucrat is still being paid $28,000 a month to head a government department that has not existed since June.
News Corp reports that Louise Sylvan is still earning more than $300,000 a year as CEO of the Australian National Preventative Health Agency, despite no longer having any official daily duties.
Ms Sylvan was offered a redundancy package of more than $200,000 after the department was axed by the federal government in June, but refused to take it.
Ms Sylvan did not breach any laws by not accepting the package and the position can only be terminated through legislative changes.
Ms Sylvan’s contract runs until September 2016.
The ANPHA was established in 2011 by the Gillard government, with the intention of providing grants and sponsorship to anti-obesity and anti-binge drinking initiatives.
The Abbott government cut the agency this year and absorbed some of its powers into other departments.
