'Bunnings bandit' charged after spate of lawnmower thefts in Brisbane

A man has been charged after a series of brazen thefts in hardware stores across Brisbane.

The 36-year-old, dubbed the "Bunnings bandit", was arrested yesterday after police released security footage of him using a trolley to wheel a Honda lawnmower, worth more than $1000, past a Bunnings checkout without paying.

In the past month, the man had used the same technique on at least six separate occasions, targeting stores across Carseldine, Morayfield, North Lakes and Rothwell.

He allegedly stole items and resold them on buy-swap-sell pages online.

The Bald Hills man has been charged with enter premises and commit an indictable offence, forgery, possessing an item through forgery and use item to forge document.

He was given bail and is due to appear in Pine Rivers Magistrate Court on November 29.
