Police to review body camera footage after violent scuffle with Bulldogs fans

Video footage captured on body cameras worn by NSW police officers will be reviewed after Bulldogs fans were escorted from Sydney’s Allianz Stadium last night.

Punches were thrown when police confronted the rowdy spectators just before half time in the match, which saw the Bulldogs eliminated 38-12 and the Roosters progress through to the finals.

Superintendent Gavin Dengate said no charges have been laid and that no officers were injured.

Video uploaded to YouTube shows the group being led from their seats by police officers and security personnel wearing ‘Crowd Safety’ vests.

One man appears to be detained by police while another seems to lunge at an officer as numerous group members shout and appear to resist the officers.

The scuffle turns violent, with one man wearing a Bulldogs jersey appearing to push or attempt to punch an officer.

Several officers then appear to be detaining one man who is shirtless.

The Roosters victory has secured the team a spot in a finals showdown with the Brisbane Broncos, with Shaun Kenny-Dowall scoring all three tries.

Before a tense crowd of 35,711, the Roosters led 8-4 at halftime, before a controversial Kane Evans try opened the way for the minor premiers to lay on 30 second-half points to overcome last week’s upset loss to Melbourne.

The Roosters will play Brisbane at Suncorp Stadium next Friday for a spot in the grand final.
