Video shows armed thieves' cigarette theft rampage
Armed thieves have smashed their way into an inner-Melbourne supermarket to steal cigarettes, with the rampage caught on camera.
The gang broke into the IGA in Brunswick East at 4.30am yesterday.
Using a sledgehammer and an angle grinder, the thieves managed to steal $4000 of cigarettes from the locked cabinet.

“They all come prepared,” manager Abanoub Eylas said.
“It’s frustrating because it’s like a profession for them.
“It’s just another day for them.
“They don’t understand how much hard work and effort goes into first cleaning up the mess and trying to run a small family business.”
The thieves then moved onto a nearby Woolworths Metro on Sydney Road and an IGA on Nicholson Street in Coburg.

The owners of the Coburg store have spent $30,000 fortifying their business after recent break-ins.
The goods are likely destined for the black market.
“If you don’t buy from them, they probably will never do it,” shop owner Eddie Matti said.
