The family of a woman whose body was found near a creek behind her apartment block in Sydney’s west remains heartbroken as police launch a strike force to investigate her death.

Amesha Rajapakse’s brother Sahan said today when he last saw her on Tuesday night she seemed fine and wasn’t upset by their conversation at all.

Ms Rajapakse moved to Australia from Sri Lanka a few years ago.

“She had only a few friends because her whole life, her whole world is very small, like our family and our closest relatives,” Mr Rajapakse said.

Strike Force Mandaring is attempting to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.

Police are still awaiting the results of a post-mortem which will help to determine the direction of the investigation.
