Broaden GST and scrap stamp duties: NSW

The NSW treasurer is calling for the goods and services tax to be broadened and stamp duties scrapped to fix "fundamentally flawed" financial relations between Canberra and the states.

Dominic Perrottet also wants messy federal-state funding agreements abolished, as he pushes for states to become less dependent on the Commonwealth.

"Fixing federal financial relations is the single biggest challenge facing the states and embarking on reform is key to drive future productivity and economic growth," he told The Australian on Monday.
