Brisbane smashed by powerful rainstorm with more expected
Brisbane was hit by a powerful rainstorm overnight, with more than 100 millimteres falling in some parts in the space of an hour.
The Bureau of Meteorology said the amount of rain that fell in just one hour last night was equal to what the city had received in the last six months.
The storm passed through the Darling Downs and Scenic Rim before hitting Brisbane and Moreton Bay just after 10pm.

The downpour caused flash flooding as drains struggled to cope with the amount of water and leaf litter. Almost 2000 homes lost power at the height of the storm.
There was localised flooding at Ipswich Road, Stanley Street, and the Pacific Motorway and on Duke and Vulture Street in Wooloongabba.
Some streets in Annerley were also affected.

At Brisbane Airport. Wind gusts hit 80kmh with some flights diverted as a result.
There were no significant reports of damage to property.
More storms are expected for the area in coming days – a welcome change for firefighters who have been battling several blazes across Queensland.
