A Brisbane man has died following a night of partying at the Falls Festival in Byron Bay.

Nathaniel Guymer was camping at the three-day music festival with a group of friends who found his body when they woke this morning.

Inspector Darren Steel of NSW Police told 9NEWS paramedics attempted to revive the 26-year-old but were unsuccessful.

Forensic police examined the campsite this morning, and a toxicology report will be prepared.

Police are not treating Mr Guymer's death as suspicious and believe drugs may have been involved.

"Police have commenced an investigation, we're interviewing a number of witnesses from the site," Mr Steel said.

In a recent radio interview, festival organiser Brendan Saul said there would be a "particular focus" by security staff to crack down on illicit drugs.

Organisers released a statement today saying their "thoughts are with his family and friends during this terribly sad time".
