Teen escapes as blaze destroys historic Brisbane home

A teenage girl has managed to escape a massive blaze that gutted a historic, Queenslander-style house in Brisbane's north.

Firefighters rushed to the scene of the fire about 5pm after thick smoke and flames were spotted pouring from the home in Clayfield.

They found the home well alight.

A teenage girl and a dog managed to escape from the blaze before it spread and consumed the whole house.

Both were unhurt and no one else was home at the time.
