Brisbane dad reunited with missing kids just days before Christmas

A Brisbane father has reportedly been reunited with his children three years after they disappeared – just days before Christmas.

The Australian Federal Police returned nine-year-old Serena and eight-year-old Thomas to their father Harry Speath yesterday, the Courier Mail reports.

The children were reported missing on December 5, 2014.

They were included in a national campaign to ‘Help Bring Them Home’ ahead of International Missing Children’s Day in 2015, launched by Justice Minister Michael Keenan and Australian Federal Police (AFP) Commissioner Andrew Colvin.

“To some extent if feels like they’ve died but there’s no bodies to bury,” Mr Speath said at the time.

A Facebook page was set up in an effort to find the children.

Earlier this month, Mr Speath posted to the page to mark the “monumental milestone” that was the three-year anniversary of the last time he saw Serena and Thomas.

“I love you both very, very much. I’m sending you guys many, many, many hugs & kisses across the miles between us, no matter how far,” he said.

The children were reportedly found with their mother about 150km from where they went missing.
