Manhunt for infamous bank robber on run in Gold Coast bushland
Infamous bank robber Brendan Berichon is on the run on the Gold Coast, wanted for alleged domestic violence offences at his home in Pacific Pines.
Police went to the home this morning but couldn’t find Berichon who they believe fled into bushland.
Firefighting efforts are underway in the bushland at Maudsland where a blaze has been burning for two days.
Police are confident they will arrest Berichon tonight.
9News understands he has been living on the Gold Coast since his release from prison.
He served five years for his role in a prison break in 1997 that saw Postcard Bandit Brendon Abbott and four other inmates escape maximum security at Brisbane Correctional Centre at Wacol, then called the Sir David Longford jail.
