A young boy has suffered leg injuries after being trapped underneath a car in Penrith this afternoon.

It's believed the car mounted the kerb on High Street at around 2.30pm, trapping the 11-year-old who had been riding a scooter after finishing school.

A CareFlight rescue helicopter was deployed to the scene, however he was taken by ambulance to The Children's Hospital at Westmead.
