Boy assaulted by gang in Sydney's west

A teenage boy has suspected neck and spinal injuries after being punched to the ground and kicked by a gang of boys in Sydney's west.
Police say the 16-year-old was at Morreau Reserve at Rooty Hill at about 8.40pm (AEDT) on Sunday when he was approached by the group and became involved in an argument.
He was then punched in the head a number of times, causing him to fall to the ground where he was kicked.

The gang of boys fled before police and ambulance paramedics arrived.
The boy was taken to Nepean Hospital with suspected neck and spinal injuries.
Police have urged anyone who was in the reserve and may have witnessed the assault to contact police.
