Bowen rules out ALP income tax indexation

Shadow Treasurer Chris Bowen has ruled out indexing personal income tax rates to avoid Australian workers paying more.

Theoretically the only way of totally dealing with so-called bracket creep was indexation, he said.

"I'm not going to propose that ... it was tried in the 1970s, lasted 12 months and was a disaster," Mr Bowen told ABC radio on Friday.
