A bottle-wielding man has been tasered in the West Australian Parliament House car park, following a stand-off with police this afternoon.

Police negotiators approached the man after he was seen yelling obscenities and making threats to harm himself, sparking a lockdown of parliament facilities, The West Australian reports.

At around 5.20pm the man produced what appeared to be a knife, lunging at officers standing nearby.

Tactical Response Group officers armed with a shield and tasers approached the man, asking him to lay down. When the man failed to comply, they tasered him.

An estimated 10 or more officers were required to restrained the man, who was then escorted to a hospital.
