One Direction, Ed Sheeran and Chris Martin among the stars singing Geldof classic for Christmas charity song

The new Band Aid 30 single has been released with a host of performers including Bono, One Direction and Seal singing to boost the profile of the Ebola crisis in West Africa.

The video features various artists singing Bob Geldof’s 1984 classic “Do They Know It’s Christmas” with some new lyrics, including: “No peace and joy this Christmas in West Africa”.

Famous faces include the boys from One Direction, Chris Martin, Ellie Goulding, Ed Sheeran, Paloma Faith and Rita Ora.

Geldof told BBC News he fired up the singers for the chorus to bring home the Ebola crisis.

“I explained the situation in West Africa, I explained what the UN were saying, explained what we could do and just geed them up,” he said.
