Drama followed Bondi's notorious hoarder sisters to a Sydney Court today, as Elena and Liana Bobolas raised accusations of bias, malicious prosecution and requested a magistrate step aside from the hearing.

The duo are fighting charges of wilful obstruction, relating to a council clean up at their Boonara Avenue home on July 20 and 21, 2015.

Elena, representing herself, told Magistrate Jacqueline Trad that she had "bias", on the grounds that she "read newspapers", and had "prior knowledge" of them that could "impact impartiality" and asked for her to step aside. The application was refused.

She then called for the case to be dismissed citing malicious prosecution.

The first day of the hearing at Downing Local Court was repeatedly interrupted by cries of objections from both parties, as the prosecutor played a video recording.

One of the arresting police officers took the stand, saying the women were charged after allegedly breaching an order requiring they stay 10 metres from the clean-up equipment at the Bondi property.

They claim they were 11.18 metres away.

At one point, the Bobolas sisters told the Magistrate, "you know what you're doing is wrong your honour", "you are obstructing me".

The pair were served several warnings from the Magistrate.

"Do not argue all of my rulings," her honour said.

"I don't intend to indulge the parties' behaviour.

"You will not run these proceedings, I will."

These matters have been dragged through the courts for four years.
