Bodybuilder dad breaks down in tears seeing colour for first time

A US father has broken down sobbing after seeing colour for the first time with the help of specially designed Enchroma glasses.

 

William Reed was reportedly gifted with the glasses – designed to correct mild forms of colour-blindness – by loved ones on his 66^th birthday.

 

A video of his reaction, posted to YouTube on September 12, shows an unsuspecting Mr Reed unwrapping his present then slipping on a pair of the glasses.

 

Mr Reed, who reportedly was only able see in “black and white” his whole life, immediately begins peering around in astonishment.

 

“I never saw it before…” he begins to say, before growing suddenly emotional and trailing off.

 

“Now you see with our eyes,” a woman can be heard saying off-screen.

 

A person is heard barely managing to stifle a sob, before a woman walks into frame, embracing Mr Reed.

 

“It looks so weird,” he says, as he stares at his transformed surroundings.

 

“I haven’t seen it forever… The trees look so… They don’t even look real.

 

“Seriously, they look 3D.”

 

Mr Reed appears to then compare himself to the character of Dorothy from the film Wizard of Oz, after she is whisked away to the magical land of Oz, crying, “Oh man! Dorothy,” he says.

 

The video has been viewed more than a million times, drawing heartfelt responses from hundreds of YouTube users.

 

“Who's cutting onions in my room ,” one person wrote.

 

“Truly beautiful,” another concludes.
