Community grieves young mum allegedly murdered in Melbourne
A 24-year-old man has been charged with murder after the body of a 20-year-old woman was found in Melbourne's west.
Twenty-year-old mother and law student Jackie Deng was found dead at a property in Melton about 7pm yesterday.
The house was subsequently cordoned off as a crime scene and a man, believed to be her former partner, charged with her murder.
This morning the alleged murderer faced an out of sessions court hearing.
Flowers have since been laid at the unit Ms Deng is believed to have moved into just a few weeks ago.
Her death has triggered an outpouring of grief online, with one relative describing her as “the most beautiful soul I ever met”.
Homicide detectives are investigating and are yet to reveal how Ms Deng died.
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Melbourne Magistrates Court tomorrow.
