Former Greens leader Bob Brown was molested by a school choirmaster as a child in the 1950s, he told a Sydney court today.

Ian Douglas Davidson, 84, is currently standing trial for allegedly indecently assaulting students while he was at the elite Sydney Grammar preparatory school in St Ives in 1962, the Daily Telegraph reports.

While none of the accusations involve Dr Brown, he appeared in the court via videolink to reveal he was "fondled" by Davidson on several different occasions.

In one instance, Davidson allegedly groped him in an empty classroom in Armidale, and again in a storage shed, and another time in a carriage on a train to Tamworth.

"It was dark and I don’t think the other boys could see what was going on," he said.

"I was so embarrassed, it has burned into my mind."

Dr Brown was a year six student at the time.

Davidson's barrister challenged Dr Brown's recollection of the alleged events but the senator insisted his claims were the truth.

The trial continues.
