Blacktown Brothers for Life member charged

Police have arrested an alleged member of the Brothers for Life gang in Sydney's northwest with firearm and drug offences.

The 21-year-old man was found during a "proactive" police patrol at a property in The Ponds, near Kellyville.

The property was searched by officers from Strike Force Sitella, which was formed by the Middle Eastern Organised Crime Squad to investigate a number of shootings in Sydney in 2013.

He was later charged with possessing a prohibited firearm and pistol and supplying illegal drugs.

The man, who had his bail refused, is due to appear in Blacktown Local Court on Friday.

Police say he's from the Brothers for Life, Blacktown faction.

Twelve people have been arrested and charged with more than 80 offences over the last few months by Strike Force Sitella.
