Bishop in the wrong place as she misses out on $2500
Former House Speaker Bronwyn Bishop’s week just got a whole lot worse last night after she reportedly won a $2500 cash prize at a local RSL but was unable to claim the cash.
Ms Bishop’s badge number was picked out in the weekly draw at Avalon Beach RSL Club, but because she wasn’t there she couldn’t claim the prize.
Ms Bishop was in Canberra, being forced to look on from the backbench as Tony Smith eased himself into the Speaker’s chair.
An anonymous person called into 2UE today to make sure everyone could have a chuckle at Ms Bishop’s expense over her missed prize.
About 100 people were at the RSL last night and everyone reportedly had a good laugh at the former Speaker’s expense at missing out on the prize.
"Her name was drawn out, obviously to everybody's delight," Avalon Beach RSL Club general manager Angus Rimmer said.
"There was quite a bit of laughter and humour around it, given recent circumstances."
