Australian voters prefer women leaders, research reveals

New research has revealed electors would prefer females to lead the nation’s major political parties rather than the current male leaders.

Data obtained by Roy Morgan Research has revealed our female politicians have the most support from voters.

Julie Bishop is the preferred coalition leader with 34 percent popularity, nine percent higher than current Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.

Mr Turnbull’s popularity has slumped 16 percent since May this year.

Former PM and current Federal member for Warringah Tony Abbot only had the support of 14 percent of voters.

For the Australian Labour Party (ALP), Tanya Plibersek is marginally more favoured than Shadow Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Anthony Albanese, with 25 percent popularity to his 24 percent.

Bill Shorten’s popularity has stalled at 14 percent.
