Dumped cabinet minister Bruce Billson has landed a new role as chairman of parliament's committee overseeing the national disability insurance scheme.
Mr Billson was a surprise omission from the frontbench in Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull's post-coup reshuffle.
"Our immediate focus will be to examine the early learnings from the initial NDIS sites and oversee the work of the National Disability Insurance Agency as the rollout extends into Victoria and NSW," Mr Billson said in a statement on Friday.
