Bigger payouts over air crash deaths

Families of people who die in plane crashes could receive a nearly $1 million payout from airlines.
Legislation introduced to federal parliament on Wednesday would also see airlines give bigger payouts on damaged or lost luggage.
Airline staff like cabin crew would also be exempt from being sued separately.

Families would receive $925,000, up from a previous cap of $725,000.
Up to $3000 in checked baggage would be covered and up to $300 in carry-on would be covered, up from $900 and $90 respectively.
