The Cottesloe Beach Hotel is probably as far as you can get from the United Nations.

That was the reality check West Australian Premier Colin Barnett gave Foreign Minister Julie Bishop as he helped launch what is her seventh federal campaign.

"Tonight you're just a candidate, just a simple candidate," he said, after praising her work representing Australia, especially in the aftermath of the downing of a Malaysia Airlines flight over the Ukraine.

"No world stage, no United Nations speeches," he joked.

Malcolm Turnbull was also on hand to rally her Curtin volunteers and supporters.

"Julie Bishop is the most outstanding foreign minister in our times," he said.

"Every time she speaks up for Australia, Australians are so proud."

He repeated his claim that the coalition will win the July 2 poll - something he told the WA Liberal Party campaign rally earlier on Tuesday.

Ms Bishop holds the seat with a safe margin of more than 18 per cent.
