Laid-back graphic designer Ryan Ginns named Big Brother 2014 winner

Ryan Ginns has been announced as the winner of Big Brother 2014.

Ginns, 26, from Sydney beat out fellow finalists Travis Lunardi and Skye Wheatley to pocket the $200,000 grand prize after spending 80 days locked inside the Gold Coast compound.

Lunardi, 24, came in second, while Wheatley, 20, came in third.

"Oh my God," an overwhelmed Ginns said after the announcement. "That is the weirdest feeling ever. I'm freaking out Big Brother!"

Before heading out for his post-show interview with host Sonia Kruger, Big Brother announced to Ginns that he had "one more surprise". Moments later, Ginns' parents walked in to the confine.

Upon seeing his mother, a teary Ginns remarked, "you look so beautiful".

The graphic-designer - who was born in Queensland before coming to Sydney - was known in the house for his strong opinions and laid-back nature.

Ginns is the first Queenslander to win the reality TV competition.
