Woman dies in Bendigo house fire

A woman has died in hospital after a house fire in regional Victoria.

The woman, who was aged in her 40s and used a wheelchair,  was trapped inside her North Bendigo home when flames engulfed the property last night.

Emergency services were called to the property at Kookaburra Avenue just before 10pm.

The woman died in hospital from injures after being rescued from a house fire. Nine

Firefighters rescued her after breaking through home security and extinguished the blaze.

She was taken to hospital suffering burns and smoke inhalation but died a short time later.

The cause of the blaze is being investigated.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
