Family of Ben Cousins say he is doing 'fine' behind bars

The family of disgraced AFL star Ben Cousins have shown their support for the former footballer by attending his court case in Armadale today.

Cousins who’s still behind bars, appeared at Armadale Magistrates Court by video link from Hakea Prison.

He appeared relaxed, wearing prison greens and sporting a beard and his hair in a ponytail.

The 39-year-old's father Brian, mother Stephanie and other family members told media the Brownlow medalist is doing “fine”.

He is facing a number of charges including aggravated stalking and drug possession.

Police allege he threatened to kill his ex-partner and bury her alive, and that he was hiding 13 grams of meth internally when he was arrested at a Canning Vale home in September.

Lawyer Michael Tudori asked for all charges to be moved from Armadale to Perth in December and Cousins will stay in jail until then.

In a strange coincidence, Cousins' former partner Maylea Tinecheff was also due to face the same court today, charged with drug driving and driving without a licence while the pair's two children were in the car.

She didn't appear and was granted an adjournment because her children are unwell. She's due back in court next month.
