Bear cub rescued from California rubbish bin

Television cameras have captured the moment a bear cub was reunited with another bear, believed to be its mother, after it became stuck in a rubbish bin in California.

Video shows an adult bear hopping in and out of the concrete area surrounding the bin, before being chased away by wildlife officers in the town of Pasadena.

It scampers away and climbs a nearby tree.

The officers set-up a ladder to coax the cub out of the bin and it soon emerges.

Joining the adult bear, the pair casually cross a suburban street and flee.

There are believed to be around 25,000 to 30,000 bears in California, with sightings common in the areas at the foothills of the region’s mountains.
