Batman roller-coaster promises to thrill, terrify riders

A US theme park has offered a sneak peek at a Batman-themed roller-coaster that's even more fearsome and imposing than the Caped Crusader himself.

Batman: The Ride will lift passengers up a 12-storey hill then fling them along a magnetically-guided track that includes two skull-rattling "beyond 90-degree raven drops" and six full, nausea-inducing upside-down spins.

Six Flags Fiesta Texas boasted that the "4D wing coaster" will be the most thrilling ride in the park's 22-year history when it opens in 2015.

"Batman: The Ride is an entirely new concept in ride engineering and will provide a sensory experience like no other coaster," said park president Martin Bozer in a statement.

"The unanticipated tumbling will add even more thrills as riders travel along the dipping and swirling track."

The ride, which is due to open in 2015, will also incorporate a Batmobile and a Bat-Signal for the full Dark Knight experience.
