Bathurst 66-year-old man arrested on babysitting sexual abuse charges
An elderly male babysitter has been charged over the alleged sexual assault of a young girl he looked after in central New South Wales several years ago.
The arrest of a 66-year-old man in Bathurst on Monday morning follows the recent opening of an investigation into reports the man sexually assaulted a four-year-old girl he was babysitting
Following extensive inquiries, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse Squad arrested the Bathurst man at a home unit in Bathurst yesterday.
The man was taken to Bathurst Police Station and charged with aggravated sexual assault, victim under 16.
He was refused bail and appeared at Bathurst Local Court yesterday, where he was granted strict conditional bail to appear at the same court next month.
A police spokesperson confirmed that inquiries into the alleged crime are continuing.
