Banks commission couldn't compensate: PM

A royal commission into the banking sector would drag on for three years and only benefit lawyers, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has told parliament.
Labor used question time on Monday to pressure the government to agree to hold an inquiry, as the opposition has pledged if elected.
But Mr Turnbull said a royal commission would take three years and have no power to compensate customers or "right any wrong".
