Aussie wedding celebrant uses meth in Bali to get “more excited”
A popular Melbourne wedding celebrant who operates in Bali has faced Denpasar court accused of possessing drugs that make him “more excited”.
It was the first court appearance for Greg Egli, who has been in custody since late January when Balinese police allegedly found 0.33 grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia during a search of the 41-year-old’s rented home.

Originally from Keilor in Melbourne, Egli appeared calm before the panel of judges as his lawyer chose not to file an objection against the charges which carry a maximum penalty of 12 years behind bars.
Egli’s website features dozens of photos of him standing in front of beaming couples, and states that he’s been “living in Bali and conducting wedding ceremonies for the past 10 to 11 years”.

A prosecutor told the court that Egli admitted to using meth for almost a year and that he last bought the drug two days before his arrest from someone named “Derry” for $230.

Lawyer Edy Hendrawan told the media Egli used meth because it made him “more excited and not tired quickly”.
"He said that he was very very sorry, if he knew the consequences like this, he would not use narcotic.”
Egli was remanded in custody and is due to face court again in two weeks.
