Baird working to restore trust

NSW Premier Mike Baird says he understands why the public are "disillusioned" with the Liberal Party in the wake of several MPs taking centre stage at the latest corruption inquiry.

The Independent Commission Against Corruption has been examining allegations that the NSW Liberal Party's main fundraising arm helped funnel banned donations back to the party.

"I think the community has a great deal of suspicion. `Who are these people?' `Are they there representing us?' I can understand their disillusionment," he told ABC Radio on Thursday.

He says the Liberal Party is working on restoring trust.

"I've heard the concerns, particularly in relation to lobbyists and donations, and we need to make some reforms in those areas.

"And we will, because trust is a critical measure of any government."

The corruption probe has already seen four Liberal MPs, including a minister, relegated to the cross bench.
