Baird faces first question time as premier

Mike Baird is expected to face a heated first question time as premier when NSW state parliament resumes on Tuesday.

Mr Baird took over the state's top job in mid-April after Barry O'Farrell resigned as premier over evidence he gave to the corruption watchdog about a gift of a $3000 bottle of wine.

Mr Baird has vowed to clean up NSW politics as more damning allegations emerge from the Independent Commission Against Corruption's twin probes.

In the past week the Liberal party has lost Police Minister Mike Gallacher, who stood down on Friday after he was implicated in a Liberal Party slush fund scheme, as well as upper house MP Marie Ficarra.

The state opposition is expected to go hard on the coalition during question time on Tuesday.

Tuesday's parliament will also have some new ministers following a reshuffle after Mr Baird became premier.

Penrith MP Stuart Ayres is expected to be named police minister to replace Mr Gallacher.
