Bail refused for 16-year-old Sydney teen accused of planning Anzac Day terror attack

A Sydney teenager arrested over an Anzac Day terror plot has been refused bail and will remain in custody.

Magistrate Christine Haskett delivered her decision on the 16-year-old's bid for freedom this afternoon, following a bail hearing on Monday.

The boy was arrested on April 24 after allegedly trying to source a gun and a bomb manual in preparation for an Anzac Day terror attack.

Monday's hearing in the Parramatta Children's Court was told he allegedly said he wanted to "terrorise" the "kafirs" (non-Muslims) on Anzac Day.

The teenager's legal team had proposed around-the-clock monitoring if he was released on bail.

He has pleaded not guilty to one count of acts in preparation or planning for a terrorist act, which carries a maximum life sentence.
