UPDATED: Baden-Clay appeals, citing miscarriage of justice

Lawyers for Gerard Baden-Clay have today filed an appeal against his murder conviction.
It is understood Baden-Clay’s legal team lodged the appeal with the Queensland Court of Appeal shortly after noon.
Baden-Clay was sentenced to life imprisonment, with a 15-year minimum, after being found guilty of murdering his wife Allison at their home in Brisbane on April 19, 2012.
The jury determined the 43-year-old former real estate agent dumped her body on the banks of the Kholo Creek, about 14km away.
He has always maintained his innocence.
The appeal documents bases its argument on four grounds, firstly that the verdict was unreasonable, that there was a miscarriage of justice; secondly that this miscarriage of justice relates to the blood in the car; thirdly that the judge erred in law by not directing the jury to be satisfied beyond a reasonable doubt he dumped the body at the creek; and finally that the judge erred in directions to the jury about the 'razor cuts' on his face.
The convicted murderer spent his first night in the maximum security Wolston Correction Centre, home to paedophiles, sex offenders and other high profile prisons in protected custody. Baden-Clay, who has been assigned the inmate number E00477, reportedly wept loudly after arriving.
He has declared he does not wish to be present for the appeal.
