The resident had answered his doorbell to find the young girl dressed in a black and white top, grey shorts and wrapped snugly in a light green blanket. A bag with a bottle and baby formula was also left on the doorstep.

Auburn police Superintendent Phil Rogerson said the girl was very neat and tidy.

Police say it's unclear why she was dropped off at the particular house in Auburn, although there were baby strollers outside it.
