Baby dies after NSW balcony fall

A three-month-old boy has died in hospital after he and his mother fell from a second-storey balcony on the NSW Central Coast.

The boy and his mother were taken to hospital after the accident at a Niagara Park home on Sunday afternoon.

"Ambulance paramedics rushed to the home to find the (baby) had fallen approximately five metres to the ground in the arms of his mother," CareFlight said in a statement.

He was flown to the Westmead Childrens' Hospital with critical head injuries but died shortly after arriving.

His mother remains in Gosford Hospital and is expected to be transferred to a Sydney hospital later on Sunday.
