Toddler seriously injured after being hit by car outside Bathurst school

A toddler has serious injuries after he was hit by a car outside a school in the New South Wales Central Tablelands.

Police say initial information suggests the 18-month-old boy was hit by a reversing Commodore wagon in Bathurst about 5pm today.

He has been airlifted to the Children's Hospital at Westmead.

The car's 38-year-old female driver has been taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.

Yesterday, another toddler was accidentally run over by his father in northern New South Wales.

Police say the 44-year-old man was repairing a car at his Kyogle home when he tried to clutch-start it and it rolled backwards over his 19-month-old son.

The 19-month-old has since been transferred to Gold Coast University Hospital.
