Gold Coast girl set to regain hearing after club's helping hand
A young Gold Coast girl who was facing a years-long wait for a simple surgery to fix her hearing has been given some wonderful news.
Five-year-old Azarliah Jones has a condition commonly known as "glue ear" - fluid stuck behind her eardrum, impeding her hearing.
The condition has led to learning difficulties and behavioural issues for Azarliah.

Glue ear can be fixed by surgery, but Queensland Health told Azarliah's family the wait time was three years.
Private surgery at $4000 was unaffordable for them.
But after seeing the Jones family's story on 9News last night, BMW Club Queensland president John Fairman said he knew he and his fellow clubbers needed to help.
"I was horrified to think that a young person like that had to wait three years for an operation," he said.

Late this afternoon, Azarliah's surgery was confirmed for the start of August.
She and her family were able to meet with Fairman to express their gratitude for his and his club's generosity.
"It's something that needs to happen for a girl like that, it sets her up for the rest of her life," Fairman said.
