Axe-wielding bandits assault female workers during Gladstone hotel robbery

Two men armed with an axe have held up a Gladstone hotel and assaulted two female workers early today.

The bandits approached the women in the Yarroon Street hotel about 1am, and assaulted them before fleeing with cash.

Both women were treated at the scene for minor head injuries.

Police are hunting the violent robbers, who are both described as "dark skinned" and were wearing hooded jumpers at the time of the robbery.

One of the men has a slim build and was wearing dark clothing, while the other is described as having a solid build and was wearing a brown shirt and dark jumper.
